Zhytomyr region is located in the north of Ukraine within the limits of the Polissia Lowland, and in the south – within the limits of the Dnipro Highlands. It borders on the Gomel region of Belarus in the north, on Vinnytsia in the south, on Khmelnytskyi and Rivne in the west, and on Kyiv region in the east.

Area for greenhouse

The area of the region occupies 4.9% of the territory of Ukraine. Ordinary chernozems prevail in the south, while podzolized soils are found in the north. In the forest-steppe part, there are podzolized chernozems and dark gray podzolized soils. In the depressions of the relief, peat-bog soils have formed, and in the river valleys, soddy soils dominate. There are also small areas of low-humus chernozems. Agricultural land occupies 72.5% of the area of the region, of which arable land constitutes 78.4%.

Zhytomyr region has the appearance of a wavy plain. Thanks to the moderately continental climate, there is the possibility of growing winter wheat and rye, buckwheat, legumes, millet, and barley. Among cash crops, there are sugar beets and flax. Fruit growing, potato growing, and berry farming are also well developed. There are 22 feed mills operating.
