Mykolaiv Region is located in the Black Sea lowland in the Southern Bug basin, with a transition to the Dnipro Upland in the north. The south is washed by the Black Sea. Area of land under lease
The area of the region accounts for 4.1% of the territory of Ukraine. Agricultural lands occupy over 2000 thousand hectares, of which 1708 thousand hectares are arable land, and about 200 thousand hectares are irrigated. The basis of the soils consists of chernozems: from north to south, ordinary chernozems are replaced by southern, chestnut, and solonchak soils. In marine and river areas, sandy and loamy soils prevail. There are also solonetz soils with marshy floodplains.
The steppe zone from the southeast transitions to the forest-steppe in the southwest. Located in a zone of moderately continental climate, wheat (spring and winter), barley, sunflower, corn, and legumes are grown on arable land. Vegetable production, viticulture, and horticulture are well-developed.
