Agricultural land occupies 1,036 thousand hectares, of which about 82% (851 thousand hectares) are plowed fields. The territory is dominated by forest-steppe podzolized soils (72%). These include chernozems, gray forest, light and dark gray \u2013 these are the most fertile soils in the world. The lands located in the west of the right bank of the forest-steppe are quite humid. There are the most podzolized chernozems. They are found on the gentle slopes of hills, between the rivers Seret and Strypa.
